Make Bad-Ass Beads in Mexico with Meesh + Steph!

Make Bad-Ass Beads in Puerto Vallarta with Stephanie Sersich and Michele Goldstein November 15-21, 2009 at beautiful Hacienda Mosaico

This bead-making class is for all levels. Meesh and Steph will show you their unique methods for making glass beads, pendants and buttons. Students work at their own individual skill-levels. Two instructors yield a lot of individual instruction and several demonstrations a day. (And together, we have 22 years of bead-making experience!)

Demos will show some basic principals and explore decorative and shaping techniques. We will go beyond the round bead, making cones and bicones, hearts and stars, leaves and flowers, and anything else you imagine. We will be influenced by the flora and fauna surrounding us, and of course the spirited culture and tropical colors.

Two afternoons, we will take a bus ride into town and explore the local shops and sites. Two evenings, we will hold informal beading classes – one night of creating a Campy Charm Necklace with Meesh using authentic Mexican lottery card filled bottle caps + shrinky dinks (that we will make together), lampwork beads, milagros and other found objects. Spiny-Knotting with Steph to make bracelets. At night, you are also welcome to continue your work in the bead-making studio.

$1800. Includes breakfast and lunch each class-day, lodging (based on double occupancy), classroom needs, such as gas, but not glass and tools.
(We will send a list of tools and glass to all participants. We will also have glass packs and tool kits for sale that we will send to you ahead of time.)

We have room for 10 splendid humans. If you would like to join us, please email Meesh to register and make a deposit meesh@michelegoldstein.com.

We are looking forward to another fun adventure!

Puerto Vallarta adventures

We are having the time of our lives in Mexico - trying to speak Spanish even when the Mexicans respond in English, learning that the workshop participants are of a similar mindset (a little perverted and silly), and making colorful and extraordinarily inspired pieces of jewelry. We have made a few pieces of our own too...but we will have to wait until we get home to load those photos.
Meesh and I have been taking the bus back and forth from town (even though the bus starts to move when we are still hanging out of the door). We have collected a load of small kitchy treasures and a few classically executed local crafts. We have had many Pina Coladas and several bowls of tortilla soup. (Ernesto's is still the best soup I've had anywhere!)
My skin is warm. It's sad that I will have to go home and wear shoes for another few months until it is warm in Maine. But Meesh's photos will help to rememeber the trip fondly.
